Pikes Peak / City of McGregor / City of Marquette Archery Special Hunt Rules

The following rules are established for the 2025 hunting season.

There are 100 antlerless licenses available to Iowa residents only. A hunting license and habitat fee are required. All current Iowa hunting rules and regulations apply with this hunt.

The hunting area includes Pikes Peak State Park properties and City of McGregor / Marquette properties. Contact Andrew or City Hall of respective town if you have questions about boundaries or where you can hunt.

The season dates are October 1st , 2025 through January 10th , 2026 and remains open during the shotgun deer seasons.

Antlerless licenses are purchased only at Fisk Farm & Home located at 603 Hwy 18 W, Monona, IA, 52159, ph: 563-539-2405. The cost is $28.50 for the first license (unless you have already purchased an antlerless license outside of this hunt) and $15.00 for additional licenses. You will need to take the application form (signed by Andrew) with you to purchase a license.

We will again be offering an incentive hunt this year. If you harvest 3 female deer in the 2025-26 hunt, you will qualify for an any sex tag for next year. Please see attached for incentive license rules.

In order to count your doe harvest towards the any sex tag for next year we need to physically see your deer in person. Within 24 hours of your harvest, contact one of us at:

  • Pikes Peak (Andrew):
    • Office: (563) 873-2341
    • Cell: (563) 880-4579
  • Mar-Mac Police Department
    • (563) 873-2500

Hunters that are not participating in the incentive do not need to show us their deer but will still need to text or call and leave a message for Andrew (563) 880-4579 with details of your harvest (date, time, sex, and approximate location).

All hunters must also report their harvest to the DNR Harvest Reporting System by midnight of the day after tagging a deer. Simply text your registration number to 1-800-771-4692 and follow the prompts.

All new hunters must meet the requirements of the proficiency test, which is hitting a 9” target 3 out of 5 times from a distance of 20 yards away. Contact Andrew at Pikes Peak to set up an appointment to qualify.

Hunting must be from an elevated position, or tree stand, unless you have a permanent physical impairment that would prevent you from climbing. Tree stands may be placed on or after September 24th , 2025 (one week before season opener) and must be removed by January 17th , 2026 (one week after season ends).

Hunters must remain at least 30 yards from public use areas, such as trails, houses, streets, private property lines, campgrounds, picnic areas, parking lots, and buildings. You may hunt closer if you receive permission from the property owner.

Parking is allowed only in designated parking lots. No driving off roadways or on trails to retrieve deer. Please field dress deer away from roadways or trails. No ATV/UTV use will be allowed in the State Park.

No hunting will be allowed on the west side of Great River Road from Homestead Parking Area
