The employees of the Mar-Mar Police Department are committed to providing law enforcement services that are fair, effective, and impartially applied. It is in the best interests of everyone that your complaint about the performance of an individual officer is resolved fairly and promptly.

The Mar-Mac Police Department has formal procedures for investigating your complaint. These procedures attempt to ensure fairness and protect the rights of both citizens and law enforcement officers.

Any complement or complaint against an employee of the Mar-Mac Police Department documented on the “Citizen Compliment/Complaint Form” and submitted to the Chief of Police.

Iowa Code 80F.1(5) *

I am aware an officer who is the subject of a complaint, shall at a minimum, be provided a written summary of the complaint prior to an interview. If the complaint alleges domestic abuse, sexual abuse, workplace harassment, or sexual harassment, an officer shall not receive more than a written summary of the complaint.

Iowa Code 80F.1(13) *

I am aware an officer shall have the right to bring a cause of action against any person, group of persons, organization, or corporation for damages arising from the filing of a false complaint against the officer or any other violation of Iowa Code 80F, including but not limited to actual damages, court costs, and reasonable attorney fees.
