On November 14, 2025, at approximately 7:32 a.m., the Mar-Mac Police Department was notified of a vehicle and boat trailer that had entered the Mississippi River at the Water Street boat landing in Marquette.
A preliminary investigation indicates that during the launch of a boat, the boat separated from the attached trailer. The boat owner, who was also operating a Chevrolet Silverado, opened the driver’s door during the process and fell out of the vehicle. The Silverado, with the trailer still attached, continued down the ramp, and entered the Mississippi River.
The vehicle operator sustained injuries and was transported to Crossing Rivers Health for medical treatment. Nearby boaters were able to recover the loose boat and secure it to a dock.
Assistance was requested from the Dubuque Underwater Search and Rescue (USaR) Team, a collaborative unit consisting of members from the Dubuque Police Department and the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, to support the vehicle and trailer recovery efforts. Milo’s Towing and Recovery assisted with the removal of the submerged vehicle and trailer.
Responding agencies included the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, the McGregor Hook and Ladder Company, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Gundersen Ambulance.
This incident remains under investigation. No additional information is available for release at this time.
