Search Warrant Recovers Stolen Fishing Property

On August 7, 2019, at approximately 5:30 pm, the Mar-Mac Police District, along with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant on a vehicle being driven by Lance M. Grimm, from Luana, at the intersection of Marquette Drive and Edgar Street, in Marquette.  The search warrant was in regards to an ongoing investigation involving thefts and burglaries at the Marquette and McGregor marinas.

At the conclusion of the search, various stolen fishing poles, fishing tackle, and fishing accessories were recovered and identified by the previous reported victims.  However, many fishing poles, fishing tackle, fishing accessories, and various tools were seized and are believed to be stolen.

Grimm was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail.  Complaint and affidavits were submitted accusing Grimm of Burglary 3rd Degree (class D felony), two counts of Theft 3rd Degree (aggravated misdemeanor), and Criminal Mischief 5th Degree (simple misdemeanor).

The Mar-Mac Police District encourages anyone in the Marquette and McGregor area who had fishing property stolen within the last couple of months to contact the District’s office at (563) 873-2500.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
