The Mar-Mac Unified Law Enforcement District is proud to announce that it was awarded a $15,104 grant from the Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation during its award banquet in October. This generous grant will be used to enhance public safety and accountability through the purchase of Axon’s fleet and body camera system.

Chief Robert Millin expressed gratitude for the funding, stating, “This grant allows us to make a significant investment in modern technology that enhances transparency, safety, and the trust between our officers and the community we serve. We are thankful for the support of the Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation in helping us achieve this milestone.”

The Axon fleet and body camera system is an innovative solution that will provide the Mar-Mac Unified Law Enforcement District with enhanced video documentation capabilities. The system includes high-definition body-worn cameras and in-car cameras designed to improve evidence collection, officer accountability, and public trust. With this technology, the department aims to bolster its commitment to community-oriented policing and the highest standards of professionalism.

The Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation’s support underscores its dedication to fostering safer communities in Clayton County. By funding initiatives such as this, the corporation continues to invest in meaningful projects that positively impact residents.

The implementation of the new camera system was recently completed, with officers undergoing training to ensure proper use of the equipment. Community members are encouraged to stay informed about the district’s ongoing efforts to improve public safety through open communication and technological advancements.
